Ah, the day has come. Uncle Mark and Auntie Karryn are off on a swanky year-long round-the-world trip while us mere mortals are left behind.
But never fear globetrotters! You can still keep up-to-date with all the exciting things happening in Little Lady Lilia's world thanks to this fabulous blog.
Oh yes, now you need wonder no longer whether the Little Lady has eaten a new food (guinea fowl, anyone?) or tried a new activity (swings are fun!) because the answers will be right here, quite possibly complete with pictures if you're very lucky.
So sit down, log in, and (virtually) enjoy the next year of Lilia's life as she goes from eight months to 20 months - which is a very scary nearly two! - and hopefully manages to clock up such milestones as talking and walking, not to mention tantrumming and hissy-fitting.
Oh yes, one final thing - bon voyage!

Good afternoon Lilia from a bright and reasonably sunny Cape Town. Fortunately we got out of the country before the volcano blew in Iceland.
ReplyDeleteWe are on the V&A waterfront overlooking the boats in one direction (soon you will learn about boats, they float like bath toys) and we can see a chunk of table mountain in the other.
For future reference your parents need to take you on Upper Class flights, but you need to be over 18 to take full advantage of the benefits..
Auntie Karryn and Grandma have gone to find some Scooby snacks (you'll need to watch some cartoons..), Grandad is completing a crossword and I'm in charge of the technology.
I can see from the dining room window that the white table cloth that has been covering table mountain is starting to lift, so we might get some photos later.
After lunch we'll take a walk to the sea, have some dinner and then collapse under the weight of lack of sleep.
Talking of which - lunch time!
Everyone here says hello to you, Mummy and Daddy and thanks Mummy for reading this to you..
Lots of love,
Uncle Mark

Dear Uncle Mark
ReplyDeleteI have seen boats. They go on the river. They float like the ducks but they don't eat bread. I like feeding the ducks, there is a naughty goose who hisses at Mummy which is funny.
I'd like to see your photos. It has been sunny here as well, as hot as summer.
Hope everyone is having a good time.
Lots of love,
Lilia xxx
Hello Lilia,
ReplyDeleteIt is now the 10th May and our South African adventure is almost over. On Wednesday we fly to Singapore for part two.
We have seen a number of different animals, which you can look up in your animal book (you will have one of these when the time is right).
The big ones were elephants, rhinos and giraffes. We also saw ostriches (farmed like cows and very tasty!), dassies (furry rodents, they also come in cuddly toy shape), seals, baboons, monkeys, lots of birds and (very briefly) dolphins.
We have travelled many miles (kilometres in foreign) over the Klein Karoo (a "little desert"), seen wine being bottled, visited the big and deep Cango caves, walked over suspension bridges at the Storm river mouth and travelled the Garden Route (a long stretch of coastline with sandy beaches and national park inland).
We have completed our loop and ended back where we started - in the same apartment in the Cape Town waterfront.
The rains of May have now arrived, so we are having some on-and-off English weather.
I hope you are getting on well with your new tooth and not giving Mummy and Daddy too problems.
Lots of love,
Uncle Mark
